Issuing Stock Certificates to Employees
I am a business owner who has recently decided to reward employees with shares of company stock. Although this is all done digitally through my broker, I would like to issue stock certificate slips as well. This is a new process to me, so I am unsure if these certificates need to be handled in any particular way when it comes to legality. I will have to contact my lawyer, since I am unsure as to whether or not this could cause any issues in the future. I may play it safe and avoid the legal documentation aspect of the certificates. Since these are purely symbolic, I plan to have a graphic designer draw up a design that is appropriate and have these printed out. Even though my broker has set up electronic accounts for all of the employees who received stocks, I would still like to give them a commemorative piece to go along with their stocks.
